Yamori (ヤモリ - lit. "Gecko" in Japanese) is an early colossus that was later made into the 8th colossus, nicknamed internally as "Yamori Revision".
"In the early stages of development, there were three types of eighth colossus. You will find all types on this page. Each type has a different location of weaknesses and different specifications for attack."
Appearance[]
Compared to its later iteration, Yamori was very large, about the same size as the 9th colossus. Similar to the 9th and 12th colossi, it had a mossy back that Wander could grab onto, but likely not be able to stab. Adorning its back were two flat wall-like structures. Its tail was closer to whichever surface it was on. Its head was identical to the design seen in the concept art, and it is likely that its stomach was covered in fur. It had large gecko feet, with three toes on the front and another smaller one on the back.
Strategy[]
The skeleton of the 8th colossus has 4 bones that are labeled as 'WEAK' underneath it. Although it's unknown if they held sigils or bow weakpoints, since they are part of the colossus' skeleton, it's highly probable that the bones were attached to parts of the model that were meant to be animated in some way. 'WEAK_A' is parented to the skeleton's neck, 'WEAK_B' is on the chest, 'WEAK_C' is on the belly, and 'WEAK_D' is on the tail. There are also ten 'UROKO' (scale) bones, both which likely originate from the original Yamori.
The Famitsu Nicknames Interview with Fumito Ueda has him briefly mention an early strategy when discussing the 8th Colossus; however this is likely referring to the original Yamori, not the revision that became the 8th colossus.
"I had the idea of making it go up the wall from the beginning, but initially I placed more importance on its angle when it was stuck to the wall. I called it Yamori..."
This may suggest that you needed to get the colossus to a certain angle on the wall or ceiling before you could shoot it down. It's possible that some parts of the colossus' body would block its weakpoints depending on how it was positioned on a surface.
Location[]
This iteration of the boss more than likely never left its test stage - Stage 09, presumed to have been named Sluice due to a texture segment found in the PS3 Data Sheets (st09_sluice_floor_camra_region). This stage would later be replaced by Underground, and the Sluice name would be used by another gecko colossus, named Yamori A.
