The West Idol Stairs is a location in ICO.

Walkthrough

First visit

Here, we will repeat the same action as in the East Idol Stairs. Before doing so, however, switch the weapon in your hand to a wooden stick, climb up the ladder in front of you, and then activate the lever to open the stands in front of you and light them. Next, after creating the staircase with the pedestal, repeat the same sequence of actions as for the East Idol Stairs: pull down the lever, open the stands, and light them. Then the outer door will open. Be aware, however, that shadows will attack from both the outside and the inside. After lighting the stands, hurry back to the entrance with Yorda to exchange the wooden stick in your hand for the sword. Hopefully, Yorda will stay at the ladder and attract all of the shadows, so you can kick them all out at once.

Second visit

When you come to the upper platform of the Idol Stairs, climb the chain while Yorda waits for you and go to the platform further up. Cut the rope in the middle of this staircase to lower the bridge while continuing onward, and enter the door of the cloister to go out onto the waterway. Here, we must stop the flow of water by pulling down the lever. After that, go back the way you came, cross the bridge you just lowered, and blow up the barricade near the chain with the bomb placed near it. Finally, return to the arena with Yorda.
