The Stairs are a location in ICO.

Walkthrough

A room with a round structure with a high ceiling. When you enter this room with Yorda, a black substance appears next to the two bars, and a shadow appears. First, beat this shadow with the wooden stick. When the shadow is gone, go down to the platform where the box is placed and push this box in any direction. When the box is moved, the switch that was underneath is activated, and a staircase appears in the room. After that, take Yorda up the stairs and proceed along the way through the balcony.

Trivia

• This was the first stage created for the game, and the one used in several promotional materials.
• In earlier versions of this stage, there was shallow water where the box and pressure plate are.
• In some sections of the guidebook, this area is called "Water and Stairs", possibly referencing its earlier version.
