The Idol Statues are monuments that are found inside of the Shrine of Worship, each of them representing a certain colossus. After Wander defeats one and is returned to the Shrine, its corresponding idol explodes.
The player can start the Time Attack mode by praying next to one of these statues after the game has been beaten once. It also works after the idols have blown up.
Usually the PS2 version of the idols depict earlier incarnations of the colossi, as they were made sometime in 2004, when the game was first shown to the public.
Some idols from the PS4 version were remade to resemble their final incarnations more, while others were kept mostly the same.
List of Idol Statues[]
Colossus I[]
The most recognizable statue in the game. Being shown in old trailers and screenshots replacing the other statues. It faithfully depicts the colossus it represents, as its design barely changed.
Like the other humanoid colossi, the model has its arms on the sides of its body.
In the E3 Demo, the last colossus' statue is replaced by a copy of this one.
Colossus II[]
Idol statue of the second colossus. Its statue depicts an earlier design from 2004 that was shown in promotional pictures and footage. Despite the colossus having a broken horn, both are intact in the idol.
Like most other quadruped colossi, the model has its hooves touching.
Colossus III[]
Idol statue of the third colossus. It includes a stone block atop the colossus' head, just like in earlier designs of the boss.
Like the other humanoid colossi, the model has its arms on the sides of its body; however, its hands have slightly different designs.
Colossus IV[]
Idol statue of the fourth colossus. Its design is a lot different from what its colossus counterpart looks like. Having a beard-like design on its chest similar to the sixth colossus' idol, and a head resembling the one from its old sketches. The neck is near identical to the one used in the eighth colossus' idol.
Unlike most other quadruped colossi, its feet don't touch, with its front legs resembling arms and being placed at the sides of its legs.
Colossus V[]
Idol statue of the fifth colossus. Its design is not too different from its in-game appearance, which suggests that if its idol statue was created around the same time as all the other ones (sometime in mid-2004), its earlier incarnation didn't look much different from its final one.
This statue is unique as it features wings and an open mouth, as the boss is able to open its mouth in battle (and was an important element of its earlier strategy).
Colossus VI[]
Idol statue of the sixth colossus. Its design heavily resembles that of the first colossus, with the exception of the head, the beard-like design on its chest, and its lower body which was taken from the second colossus' idol.
Like the other humanoid colossi, the model has its arms on the sides of its body.
Colossus VII[]
Idol statue of the seventh colossus. Its design doesn't particularly resemble the colossus it depicts very well, but a comparison with an earlier design isn't possible.
Like the other serpent-like colossi, the model is coiled.
Colossus VIII[]
Idol statue of the eighth colossus. It faithfully depicts the colossus it represents, suggesting the boss didn't look too different from its final version around the time the idols were created. The neck is near identical to the one used in the fourth colossus' idol.
Unlike most other quadruped colossi, its feet don't touch, with its front legs being depicted as arms, with human-like hands holding its knees.
Colossus IX[]
Idol statue of the ninth colossus. It faithfully depicts the colossus it represents, suggesting the boss didn't look too different from its final version around the time the idols were created. Aside from the head, the entire body is near identical to the twelfth colossus' idol.
Like most other quadruped colossi, the model has its hooves touching.
Colossus X[]
Idol statue of the tenth colossus. Its design resembles an earlier incarnation of the boss shown in earlier sketches, when it used to be a lot skinnier.
Like the other serpent-like colossi, the model is coiled.
Colossus XI[]
Idol statue of the eleventh colossus. It faithfully depicts the colossus it represents, as its design barely changed. One of its horns is depicted as being broken, even though its final and earlier designs didn't have such a feature, suggesting it was only added for extra detail.
Like most other quadruped colossi, the model has its paws touching.
Colossus XII[]
Idol statue of the twelfth colossus. Its design seems to resemble the death model for the boss that was found in the E3 Demo. With its horns turned up, and having weird teeth-like designs near where its mouth would be. Aside from the head, the entire body is near identical to the ninth colossus' idol.
Like most other quadruped colossi, the model has its hooves touching.
Colossus XIII[]
Idol statue of the thirteenth colossus. Its design doesn't look too different from its colossus counterpart, as its head hardly ever changed at all. One of its wings can be seen in its idol texture, but not in the model itself.
Like the other serpent-like colossi, the model is coiled.
A strange "easter egg" of sorts is that the texture of the mouth of Worm's idol can be seen at the bottom of the thirteenth colossus' statue.
Colossus XIV[]
Idol statue of the fourteenth colossus. Due to its armor, the statue has somewhat of a hard time depicting the colossus it represents, although it seems to be the same design.
Unlike most other quadruped colossi, the model has its arms on the sides of its body, like the humanoid colossi.
Colossus XV[]
Idol statue of the fifteenth colossus. Its design heavily resembles the first colossus, with the exception of the head, which seems to resemble more one of the concept arts for Devil. Whether that's a coincidence or not is unknown.
Like the other humanoid colossi, the model has its arms on the sides of its body.
Colossus XVI[]
Idol statue of the sixteenth and last colossus. Its design resembles its earlier incarnation before it became the final boss.
Like the other humanoid colossi, the model has its arms on the sides of its body. However, its entire bottom part is designed after its skirt-like armor.
Unused Colossi Idols[]
Eight of the unused colossi had idols at some point in development, as their models and textures are listed in the PS3 data sheets. While most of them have nothing visual-wise remaining, a few guesses can be made of how they would look like.
Devil[]
Devil's idol is grouped together with the fifth colossus, Roc and Phoenix, which suggests that its idol likely had wings. Another possible element of Devil's idol is the head from the fifteenth colossus, which resembles its early concept art.
Evis[]
Evis' idol was always a copy of the first colossus until the release of the game, when it was replaced by Buddha's idol.
Phoenix[]
Phoenix's idol was likely similar in design to the fifth colossus. However, it likely had a long neck and a closed mouth.
Roc[]
Roc's idol was likely similar in design to the fifth colossus. However, it likely had a long neck, closed mouth and a frill.
Sirius[]
Sirius' idol is grouped together with the eleventh and fourteenth colossi, and likely was designed fairly close to them.
Spider[]
Spider's idol is grouped with no one. This suggests that its design was wildly different from all the other colossi, thanks to its unique body shape.
Worm[]
The only idol with a texture remaining thanks to the thirteenth colossus sharing it. It is coiled just like other serpent colossi, with markings all over its body, and a head resembling the one seen in the available screenshots of Worm.
Yamori A[]
Yamori A's idol was likely similar to that of the eighth colossus, aside from the head.
