Counterattack (反撃 Hangeki) is a song from Shadow of the Colossus and track 21 of the Roar of the Earth soundtrack. It was composed for the game by Kō Ōtani.

Final Version

1.

Its first usage is in the battle against the 10th colossus. It plays while the colossus is stunned, switching back to A Messenger From Behind after it burrows away.

2.

Its second and final usage is in the battle against the 13th colossus. It plays after the colossus raises its wings again while Wander is climbing it. It switches back to Silence if Wander falls, or when it is about to burrow underground.

Preview Version

1.

Its first usage is in the battle against the 4th colossus (Bird, which is the 5th colossus in the final version). It starts playing while climbing it, switching back to Silence when falling on the water.

2.

Its second and final usage is in the battle against the 13th colossus. It plays after the colossus raises its wings again while Wander is climbing it. It switches back to Silence if Wander falls, or when it is about to burrow underground.

E3 Demo Version

1.

Its only usage is in the battle against the 7th colossus (Snake, which is the 13th colossus in the final game). It plays while climbing, switching back to In Awe of the Power if Wander falls. When the colossus burrows underground, the track Silence plays instead.

• This is one of six songs that have the "battle" name in the AdpcmFileDEFAULT sheet, the others are: The Opened Way, Revived Power, A Despair-filled Farewell, A Messenger From Behind and Final Battle.
• Counterattack was made to accompany the song "In Awe of the Power". In the files, In Awe of the Power is named M14P / pinch_14 and Counterattack is M14B / battle_14.
