The entrance near the Crane's sofa leads to the second floor of the large chandelier room. Here, climb up the window frame on the opposite end of the room and go up onto the ceiling framework. From there, jump to the top of the chandelier, and then use the wooden stick to hit the chain supporting the chandelier. The chain breaks, and the chandelier falls down in a cutscene.
NTSC-U[]
First visit[]
The entrance near the Crane's sofa leads to the second floor of the large chandelier room. Here, climb up the window frame on the opposite end of the room and go up onto the ceiling framework. From there, jump to the top of the chandelier. The chain will break, and the chandelier falls down in a cutscene.
At the top of the stairs on the castle wall is an observation deck where shadows appear after Yorda is taken there. The shadows that attack here are winged, strong, and numerous (three at once). They also make it very difficult to rescue her, as they fly away when they catch hold of Yorda. If she is taken away, try to rescue her immediately. After fighting off the shadows, save the game on the sofa, and climb down the ladder to get on the trolley at the far right end of the track.
Go back the way you just came and go down the stairs from the location of the Crane's sofa to the first floor of the large chandelier room. Pick up one of the bombs placed on the way and bring it to the room. After placing the bomb by the pillar, press the button by the fallen chandelier candle, igniting the wooden stick. Then, to transfer the fire to the bomb's fuse, simply move the burning wooden stick closer to the fuse. After the bomb explodes, the pillar will break and the bridge will fall.
When you return to the second floor of the chandelier's large room, a large amount of shadows will attack you, making it difficult to fight them all at once. Hurry up and take Yorda by the hand, go down the slope (fallen bridge), and let Yorda touch the sealed stone statues. Then, lightning strikes around the area eliminating all shadows.
Second visit[]
After crossing the drawbridge from the East Crag, you will reach the balcony of the chandelier room. Climb up to the pillar from the box placed at the far left of the room and cut the rope. Then take Yorda through the chandelier room and go down to the first floor of the Drawbridge stage that you passed at the beginning of the game. However, as you enter the chandelier room, shadows will attack you, so remember to stay close to Yorda and fight them back.
Early Chandelier layout. As seen in an early clip of the Chandelier when the game was still in its PlayStation 1 Era, as well as in a diagram shared by Zackmann on his BlueSky,[1] the area was connected to different stages and had different exit points:
The exit on the top floor, located near where the door connecting to Crane was placed in the final game, used to lead to st01b instead (possibly an earlier version of the Dark Room).
In the retail version, the stage has another exit on the top floor on the opposite side which leads to the Drawbridge area. In this earlier depiction however, there was no doorway there, with the second door being located on the western wall instead, below the window of the Waterfall stage. Naturally, this exit connected to Waterfall.
The door on the ground floor, which connected to Crane in the final game, used to lead to an unused location known as the "Dynamite Room".
A second door on the northern side of the ground floor existed, with it also leading to the Waterfall stage.
The exit leading to the outside was in the same spot. It led to st4a (Main Gate) instead of st47a (Drawbridge), likely because the latter did not exist.
