A Violent Encounter (荒ぶる邂逅 Araburu Kaikō) is a song from Shadow of the Colossus and track 12 of the Roar of the Earth soundtrack. It was composed for the game by Kō Ōtani.

Uses

Its first usage is in the battle against the 2nd colossus. It will switch to Revived Power when climbing it.

2.

Its second and final usage is in the battle against the the 9th colossus. It will switch to Revived Power when it rolls over.

Trivia

• A Violent Encounter was made to accompany the song "Revived Power". In the files, A Violent Encounter is named M11P / pinch_11 and Revived Power is M11B / battle_11.
• This is the only battle track in which its intro is played in-game. The song starts playing on the introduction cutscenes of the 2nd and 9th colossi, unlike the others.
• This song is not played in the E3 Demo.
• This is one of five songs with the "pinch" name in the AdpcmFileDEFAULT sheet, the others are: Grotesque Figures, Liberated Guardian, In Awe of the Power and Gatekeeper of the Castle Ruins.
• A midi version of this song exists in the game's files, its name in the AdpcmFileDEFAULT sheet is "null" and its file name is "battle". It seems to have been created to test if the music is working, as if one removes everything from a colossus' ADPCM orient sheet (for the battle music), this version of the song plays.
